– Will you tell me who sent for me? – Nuszka asked, trying to keep up with Yurek. The same person who first saw her alone in the woods.
– That’s a secret – the man looked at her and winked
Following him, she watched as he easily slipped under the low hanging branches. Yurko, who found it difficult to stay silent during this journey, turned to catch her eyes on his back.
– What’s up? – He asked, continuing his way through the woods
– Why you care? – asked Nuszka, who was not used to having a normal conversation with a man
Yurko gave her a questioning look. They walked in silence for a while.
– Have you made friends with anyone here?
Nuszka was confused. “What does he need this information for? Does he want to sneak up on me somehow?” she wondered. Noticing the disgusted expression on her face, Yurko stopped and frowned:
– Are you okay?
Nuszka took a step back. Each of her subsequent reactions to Yurek’s words amazed him more and more. He couldn’t hide from himself that he felt uncomfortable about it. He laughed nervously and, taking the next steps through the dense forest said to ease the atmosphere:
– You are indeed an interesting case. We had various refugees here, but none of them avoided men like you
– Leave me alone … – Nuszka sighed, feeling now only irritation
– Grumpy – muttered Yurko – you will see, one day you’ll need…
– There you are! – sounded a hoarse female voice from behind a tree. With a long grunt, the hunched figure rose from the moss to feet.
– Baba Yaga … – whispered speechless Nuszka.
