Fiery serpent

In Polish the name of this creature is Latawiec, the same word stands for kite, the one children love playing with. It turns out however that this word is not a synonym of carefreeness and childhood in both cases. In the past, the winged creature referred to by this name fell from the sky in fire and stole women’s hearts and drove them to devastating despair. In Poland, one can sometimes still hear the term latawica in relation to women, which means a loose woman. If you ever hear it, remember that it was originally derived from the Slavic Latawiec (Fiery serpent).
